What Is My Safe Florida Home?
My Safe Florida Home (MSFH) is a State of Florida program run by the Florida Department of Financial Services. It helps homeowners make their homes stronger against hurricanes in two steps:
- A free wind mitigation inspection of your home.
- A grant to help pay for recommended upgrades, for homeowners who qualify.
The program depends on funding from the Florida Legislature each year. As of the program's August 2026 update, it was accepting applications. You apply at mysafeflhome.com.
Who Can Get a Grant
- You own the home and it's your homestead (where you live).
- It's a site-built, single-family home. Under the 2026 law, that includes attached homes such as townhouses up to three stories.

- Your home's insured value is $700,000 or less.
- Your home was built before January 1, 2008.

- You agree to a final inspection after the work and to share your insurance discount information with the program.
